The troiku is a fun freestyle or syllabic form. I stayed within 17 syllables for each stanza, but some of you didn’t and that’s fine. I think the idea was to create the troika sleigh effect by connecting each of the stanzas with a line from the main haiku.
Another bonus to this form was that you didn’t need a kigo, as these were micro-poetry instead of real haiku. Any subject worked.
In fact, Lisa-The Versesmith, specifically wrote her troiku with senryu! I would say most of our verses were zappai, which was fine because that is what the creator of the form was after.
You all did a wonderful job. I hope you had fun. Next year, we will work with more free-style forms by mixing them with some of our syllabic forms. It will be good for our creativity!
Reena really got into the spirit of the form! I love the layout of the stanzas. It makes this form so visually pleasing to the eye. I see the troika sleigh! Of course, WordPress makes this a more difficult layout because you have to add each stanza as a separate block with the appropriate justification. But it looks so good! Bravo to Reena! 👏🏻
