Welcome to our weekly poetry stars’ celebration. This week’s challenge was to write our choice of syllabic poem, using a form from the cheat sheet or a syllabic form from the Poetscollective.org, using the theme prompt from Sangeetha:

Oh, my goodness… there was so much excellent poetry this week. Thanks everyone! I’m LOOKING for followers on my new author blog at colleenmchesebro.com. Please give me a follow. Thank you. 🙏🏻 🎃

David outdid himself this week with two poems! He sponsors a Poetry Partner’s post where you submit a poem to him, and he re-works it. The results are always fun to read. This week, David used our theme, so make sure and have a read, HERE.

Jules’ haibun, Illusive Essence, is excellent. I love the existential discussion in this haibun. The last paragraph is a stunner! Notice the haiku. The season is implied. Heat lightning occurs in the U.S. during the summer months. I love how she didn’t have to mention summer… you automatically knew.

I chose Anita Dawes double Etheree because I loved the imagery in this poem. She also nailed the theme: the nature of lightning. When you fall in love (or lust) it is a visceral response along with the physical. Enjoy this poem. It’s a good read!

The Nature of Lightning

I
feel your
hungry eyes
touch my body
I will hold you close
move like a hurricane
lose our souls in the storm wind
love like the last lightning strike
watch as the world fades into darkness
leave nothing to chance but your hungry eyes
enter the dragons mouth, hear lightning
tear each star from the vault of heaven
dance on the dark side of the moon
write history with blue light
hungry eyes speak of love
lightning, our song
let me be struck
more than once
touch me
again
