#TANKATUESDAY Weekly #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 290 #EKPHRASTIC #PHOTOPROMPT

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

Britta Benson selected the image this week. It’s an interesting photo. Remember, we can see what’s in the image, so write your poem using the image as an inspiration. Don’t just describe what you see in the photo. Think about metaphor and allegory. Think about the season.

Also, think about the form you’re chosen. Some of the Japanese forms frown upon the use of metaphors. This challenge explores Ekphrastic writing, inspired by visual art. Is this art, or is this an actual double skull? You decide!

  1. Sorry, not participating this week. The photo is disturbing and if this “skull” is inside a church, it’s even more disgusting. What kind of church would display this or any kind of skull? Yikes, I am sorry, but that’s my opinion and I’ll be looking forward to next week’s offering.
