You guys have been killing it in the poetry department!! It’s the first of the month and you know what that means! Word Crafters, choose your own poetry form, theme, words, images, etc. It’s up to you!
On the first of the month, you can now experiment with freestyle poetry, as long as you also add a syllabic form to your poem. Don’t forget to check out the Poet’s Collective, where you will find an index of Syllabic Poetry Forms. Check it out!
Are you looking for inspiration for your syllabic or prose poetry? Find an image on Pixabay.com or experiment with “found poetry” to find some inspiration. Another option is to try some magnetic poetry from the poetry Oracle.
Try combining various forms: for example, you could write a cinquain followed by an Abhanga, and finish with another cinquain! Be CREATIVE!
Here are some sites that will help you write your poetry and count syllables:

Your comment about using the same syllable counter caught my eye. Do online syllable counters tend to differ? I’ve noticed some counts of particular words that are off, which is probably a function of my dialect.

Yes! We discovered that we had to select one syllable counter and stick with it because we were getting different counts. That way, we’re all counting our syllables the same. ❤

I just bookmarked it on both my computers.

We specified this syllable counter for our challenges and for the Word Weaving Journal so everyone would get used to using that version. I use it at Carrot Ranch, as well. ❤

Thanks for hosting (naturally) and I’ve pushed myself a bit this week – went for two forms I haven’t written in ages – tanka + the ruba’i – and ventured into a new-to-me one as well, the ravenfly.
Had some fun and naturally, a smidge of frustration, but overall, I’m enjoying myself and these efforts. So glad to have found this place and I’ll be back, naturally, checking in on what others have done. Hope you have a most wonderful, peaceful, and safe week – filled with some rest and relaxation too!

Hello C. I’ve been seeing pink all day today. So naturally I had to jump in here with a short one. A Haiga — my very first one. Inspired by your lovely book. Thanks for writing that. I needed it. Thanks for having me.
