WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

Welcome! Check out the NEW main menu item: Poetry Book Publishing Links to find poetry book publishing links, including links to literary journals and poetry magazines accepting submissions of poetry. If you know of a link to add to this list, let me know by email to tankatuesdaypoetry@gmail.com. ❤
This week, SALLY CRONIN selected the words:
Eager & Hope
Remember… You must use synonyms for these two words in your poem, don’t use the words themselves. Check your poetry forms… Japanese poetry has rules. Review the cheat sheet below. <3
For the Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge, you can write your poem in the forms defined on the Poetry Challenge Cheat sheet below:

Here are some sites that will help you write your poetry and count syllables
This site even has a link so you can install the extension on Google Chrome.
For Synonyms and Antonyms. When your word has too many syllables, find one that works.
Find out how many syllables each word has.
This site does the hard work for you. It’s up and working again.

THE RULES
- Write a poem using one of these forms: Haiku, Senryu, Haiga, Tanka, Gogyohka, Haibun, Tanka Prose, Cinquain, and its variations, Etheree, Nonet, Shadorma, Badger Hexastich (hexastich for short), and Abhanga. Don’t forget the Diatelle, which is an optional form found here.
- Post it on your blog.
- Include a link back to the challenge in your post. (copy the https:// address of this post into your post).
- Copy your link into the Mr. Linky below (underlined with a hyperlink).
- Please click the small checkbox on Mr. Linky about data protection.
- Read and comment on some of your fellow poets’ work.
- Like and leave a comment below if you choose to do so.
The screenshot below shows what Mr. Linky looks like inside. Add your name, and the URL of your post. Click the box about the privacy policy (It’s blue). As everyone adds their links to Mr. Linky, you can view the other submissions by clicking on the Mr. Linky link on the challenge post. All the links will show in the order of posting.

Follow the schedule listed below:

I will visit your blog, comment, and TWEET your POETRY.
If you add these hashtags to the post TITLE on your blog (depending on which poetry form you use) your poetry may be viewed more often on Twitter:

Three prompts in one solo renga: imagery for the future?
Oh, boy! I did a deep dive on renga for my new Word Craft book! You’re going to love it! I didn’t know when we write them they should be circular with the seasons! I’ve been jumping around. 🤦🏼♀️💕
So we can change the order… Add lines to make it work as needed. That shouldn’t be too difficult between us 😉
Some renga I’ve read between teacher and students have lasted for pages!
Yes! Either 18 stanzas or 36 is normal. It’s really a lovely form. I’m so glad we can write this together. I wish I could get more poets involved in the form. I guess we could do one where people write their portion in the comments. 💚☘️
Love Sally’s inspirational words <3 xx
Me too! It’s over 60 degrees today! Spring is on the air! 💚☘️
Lol, don’t get excited. It’s warm here too. It’s our usual teaser, lol. We really haven’t had a harsh winter so I’m hoping it doesn’t come in April! We wore bloody coats here last June! <3
Yup! This is how it was when I was a kid! 💚🍀
Welcome to the east<3
Oh yeah! No different than living in the Midwest where I grew up Sis. 🤣🍀☘️💚

Hi Colleen! Thank you very much for your everlasting kindness! Its always a pleasure visiting your blog, and getting the possibility to read wonderful poems. I’m just sad that I can’t do it myself with the metrics. Maybe some time! You are always making my day too. 🙂 Thank you, and have a beautiful week! Michael
Thank you, Michael. You’re the best. ❤️

*gasp* so the theme changes weekly. Oh, my! and the link to access Mr. Linky changes as well. I got ya.
When I posted my #synonymonly ‘Dreams’ poem I thought I was doing so for the second week. Silly me.
Um, I did publish it early– in the wee hours of Tuesday (for me). Now I know. For next time, I’ll wait for you in the Reader to know the theme for the week. Newbie mistake. haha.
BTW, Does the list on Mr. Linky cumulate for a month, or is it a different list weekly? Presently, I posted last. It still shows me as last. Hmm. I’m a bit confused about this.
All this is nutrition for my brain– I can already feel it expanding. *wink* Thanks, dearly. Be well, Colleen.
The Mr. Linky links are published every Monday on a recap post from the previous week. The post is called the Tanka Tuesday Poetry Stars. Yes, there is a new challenge every week with different rules. That way it keeps things interesting. 🥰😍❤️
