Another blog Update…

Hello everybody! I’m in the midst of the worst mercury retrograde I’ve ever experienced. A couple of months ago my email was hacked. To add to my bucket of woe, I have had countless issues with WordPress, Facebook, and today, Instagram. Someone cloned my account and is sending spam messages to everyone. The Instagram account is deleted. This doesn’t include all the issues in my personal life that have surfaced. It’s a tough time for all of us.

There’s been a few changes on my blog(s) and I want to make sure everyone knows what went where. I’ve split Word Craft ~Prose & Poetry from my personal writings. On my author blog, colleenchesebro.com you will find my poetry and short stories, along with Faery Tarot Friday. My pagan writings will appear there, as well.

I’m working on finishing up Fairies, Myths, & Magic II, A Winter Celebration, so if I seem distant, I’m writing. My other book, Word Craft ~ Prose & Poetry, should publish by next spring. There’s a lot going on!

Word Craft ~ Prose & Poetry at the new domain of wordcraftpoetry.com will be the main hub for the Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge. The weekly poetry challenge will remain there, along with book reviews and Author interviews. You might have to subscribe to my blog again to get an email of my posts. Currently, I have no email newsletter. Most of them want a paid email for my blog and not a gmail account.

I’ve updated the front page and the blog categories to make things easier to find. Take a look around. Let me know if something is not right.

I want Word Craft ~ Prose & Poetry to remain an active poetic community. In the future, we’ll have a brainstorming session (questions you’ll answer) to help me figure out where we want to go with the challenges. I hope to add some rhyming syllabic forms and I want your input.

I’d love to host a yearly poetry challenge, but haven’t determined the parameters, yet. I would love to sponsor weekly features (guest blogs) by poets who would like to share different forms for us to learn, or other poetic topics. I want to interview our poets! I want to know all about you and your poetry. More about that later!

Long term, I would like to compile a yearly poetry journal that everyone could purchase for a nominal fee ($.99 each) with submissions from the poetry challenges or from other submissions. (I’m not sure yet how that would work). That could give us the funds to host a small prize poetry contest each year.

Thanks for putting up with the moving of posts and all the other crazy WP issues. Please share your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think.

No TRICKS… only TREATS!

An avid reader, Colleen M. Chesebro rekindled her love of writing poetry after years spent working in the accounting industry. These days, she loves crafting syllabic poetry, flash fiction, and creative fiction and nonfiction. In addition to poetry books, Chesebro’s publishing career includes participation in various anthologies featuring short stories, flash fiction, and poetry. She’s an avid supporter of her writing community on Word Craft Poetry.com by organizing and sponsoring a weekly syllabic poetry challenge, called #TankaTuesday, where participants experiment with traditional and current forms of Japanese and American syllabic poetry. Chesebro is an assistant editor of The Congress of the Rough Writers Flash Fiction Anthology & Gitty Up Press, a micro-press founded by Charli Mills and Carrot Ranch. In January 2022, Colleen founded Unicorn Cats Publishing Services to assist poets and authors in creating eBooks and print books for publication. In addition, she creates affordable book covers for Kindle and print books. Chesebro lives in the house of her dreams in mid-Michigan surrounded by the Great Lakes with her husband and two (unicorn) cats, Chloe & Sophie.

  1. Hi Colleen, so sorry to hear that you are going through all this trouble! IG is really getting crazy, many of my friends have been cloned there! It’s not fun! I’m a little absent from the poetry challenge, hoping to start back next week. Hugs to you!

  2. Sending light into your world. This election needs to be over, so that we know what we are facing. I’ve not been writing. It’s been tough. I’ve not been reading either. But we will get through this!

    BTW, you are super busy!!

  3. I hope everything gets solved soon, Colleen. This year seems to be a challenging one for everybody. I’m not sure what the next one will be like (I’m not very hopeful, at least for the early part of it), but can’t wait to see this one leave. Take care.

  4. This probably explains why I’ve recently been getting pingback notifications from you to older posts, Colleen. I’ve approved them.

Sorry to hear about the problems with your accounts being hacked. It happened to me on Facebook about three years ago. I deleted my account and never went back because it was during the time of the news of the data breaches at Facebook and them selling information on. Now I stick with Twitter and Flipboard. We have to be so careful when we’re online. I’m glad that WordPress has increased security to stop hackers and scams for those of us using the Block editor.

Hope you get it sorted out quickly.

    Take care.
    xx

    1. Thanks, Hugh. It’s been a nightmare. It started with a hacked email and went from there. I like MeWe for a social network to find blog posts. No craziness there just posts. It’s not FB which I hate. I could leave and not go back. ❤️

      1. I’m sticking with Twitter and Flipboard for now, Colleen. I figured that sticking with no more than two social media accounts means I don’t have to spread myself too thinly.

  5. Wow, Colleen! I’d say this retrograde hit hard. I hope you are getting your footing again. I am thinking of deleting my Instagram account. I just never use it.

  6. If only the hackers would put their skills to a positive use…also true for all the negative energy being blasted at us. Thats a lot of wasted energy.
