As I continue to work on researching the syllabic poetry forms for my new book, I’m captivated by the amount of quality poetry that appears in the challenges weekly. It makes me proud of all your hard work and determination. You guys are amazing!
Yet, I always worry someone will get bored with the challenge and quit writing poetry. I’m always open to unique ways to make this challenge more fun. Do you have any ideas? Share your thoughts in the comments.
Don’t forget, many of the poets add their poetry in the comments section of the challenge post HERE. While you’re at it, please pop over to their blogs and say hello. Just follow the links in the comments. Comments from our peers help us become better writers.
There was so much great poetry this week. I’ve only selected a few links for you to read so you will visit the challenge post.
Persecution in the Garden: Sally Cronin
Poetry Friday Gratitude: Vashti Q. Vega
Ever more: Kitty’s Verses
Solitude: A Multitude of Musings
Tanka: Getting Lost
Breathing Space: Jules
Unpardonable: Padre’s Ramblings
Annette Rochelle Aben’s double Etheree resonated strongly with me this week. I’ve highlighted her poem below.
Vulnerability is Strength
We
Are not
Always what
We seem to be
Especially when
We are vulnerable
And the side of us we show
Might present the wrong impression
In reality we’re seeking help
But don’t know quite how to express ourselves
That is when we need to trust that others
Understand more than we think they do
That they’re holding us in their hearts
Being our strength when we can’t
Allowing us our space
Where we know we’re safe
To find some strength
From within
And we
Bloom

I know it’s a day late, but we should say some things more than once.

Some fabulous entries for sure. Annette’s double etheree was poignant and powerful. Congrats Annette! ❤ And in answer to your question about variety on your blog, I think it's great the way it is. It's always inviting and colorful and inspiring, and the challenges are fun with a different theme or photo change-up weekly is fun so I'd say, don't fix if not broke. ❤ xx
