WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

It’s the third week of the month! Time for a #PhotoPrompt
I selected Ritu Bhathal from last month’s challenge to pick the photo for this month. She has provided the following image. Please include the copyright when sharing this image on your blog.

What emotions do you feel in the moment when you look at this photo? Now, write a poem!
ALSO… I’m looking for Senryu poetry in the 3/5/3 and 2/3/2 format to use in my new book as an example. If I use your poem you will retain all rights to your work. Your work is copyrighted and I cite you in the Bibliography at the end of the book. Please email me at tankatuesdaypoetry@gmail.com. Thanks for your assistance.

On the Monday before the next Tuesday challenge, I will pick my favorite poem from this week’s challenge and share it on my blog. Whoever I pick will choose the photo for next month’s challenge! Email your selection to me at tankatuesdaypoetry@gmail.com.
PLEASE support the other poets by visiting blogs and leaving comments. Peer reviews help poets perfect their writing craft. Remember… sharing is caring.
For Colleen’s Weekly Poetry Challenge, you can write your poem in the forms defined on the Poetry Challenge Cheatsheet (click the link below):

Poetry Form Cheatsheet
Here are some great sites that will help you write your poetry and count syllables
This site even has a link so you can install the extension on Google Chrome.
For Synonyms and Antonyms. When your word has too many syllables, find one that works.
Find out how many syllables each word has. I use this site to compose my poems. Click on the “Workshop” tab, then cut and paste your poetry into the box. Click the Count Syllables button on the button. This site does the hard work for you.

THE RULES
Every Tuesday I’ll post the challenge early enough so everyone can see it. Remember, there will be no recap.
The rules are simple. Write your poetry on your blog.
Do a link-back by placing the HTTPS:// address of the challenge post into your post. ALSO, please copy your poem and add it to the comments. If you created a Haiga, let us know in the comments with a link to your post. Now, all of the poetry ends up on the challenge post in one place.
Follow the schedule listed below:

I will visit your blog, comment, and TWEET your POETRY.
If you add these hashtags to the post TITLE on your blog (depending on which poetry form you use) your poetry may be viewed more often on Twitter:
#Haiku, #Senryu, #Haiga, #Gogyohka, #Tanka, #micropoetry, #poetry, #5lines, #Haibun, #Prose, #CinquainPoetry, #Etheree, #Nonet, #Shadorma

Hi Colleen,
Thank you for running the challenge. Here’s my post :-
https://kittysverses.wordpress.com/2020/02/19/light/
Thank you for stopping by and reading. This is my first time I’m trying my hand at Senryu. Hope I’ve done it right. Thank you for being an inspiration.
Nature dims her light,
lets us rest, we switch on ours,
Drop, care to ponder?
Darkness, with-
-out light to disturb,
works smoothly.
Moon, queen,
Stars, devote damsels?
Own queens?
Poetry form :- Senryu ( Syllable forms – 5/7/5 ; 3/5/3 ; 2/3/2 )
Well done, Kitty! Senryu are about the human responses to situations, where Haiku are nature related. ❤️
Thanks a lot, Colleen. Thank you very much for the information, I’m excited to try the various forms. 🙂
Great. Many poets write Senryu poems thinking they are Haiku. And to make matters worse… there are some Haiku/Senryu that are hybrid’s of each other. It all gets confusing. You did great. <3
Thanks a lot, Colleen. Thank you for your tips. 🙂
You’re so very welcome. <3

Great image from Ritu. And the poems come pouring in. 🙂
It’s so fun watching all this creativity, Diana. ❤️
Hi Colleen, great photo, lots of possibilities for the poem. Thanks, Ritu!

Thank you! I was trying to do a senryu but couldn’t get the irony to work in what the pic was saying to me.
And, that’s okay… sometimes we have to listen to our inner voices. The moon is definitely playing with everyone in this photo. 😀
It sure is!

Sally, this is fabulous! I always love the rhythm of the syllables in a Shadorma. Your message resonates with current affairs, also. I love it! <3
Thank you Colleen.. thought it was time to practice with another form.. will enjoy exploring it further..hugs ♥
The Shadorma has a rhythm all its own. It’s quite special and your words really conveyed a perfect message. <3

Hi Colleen! And thanks for the photo, Ritu. It took a while for me to come up with something for this one. I did a shadorma sequence. I think each poem can stand alone, but together they’re a narrative, of sorts. 🙂 Not sure I’m entirely happy with it, but. . .
Welcome home
the glow said to me–
weary from
work and time
dragging me down. But light
keeps shadows at bay–
memories, they stay,
in moonlit places–
yet faces,
dark creatures
still slither into my dreams–
till dawn, and I’m free—
moonglow memories
dance the way we did
remember?
Hand-in-hand
we moved, kissed, together said
words of love, now gone.

Merril, I love this sequence! You picked up on strong vibes!
Thank you, Colleen! 🙂
