Crafting Poetry One Syllable at a Time
Hi! I’m glad to see you here. Are you ready to write some syllabic poetry?
You can use Pixabay or any other creative commons photos – just give attribution to the photographer. If you would like to use your own photos, just let me know that bit of information. Please email the photo NLT 3 days before the next month’s photo challenge.
After you’ve posted your poem on your blog, please copy your poem in the comments section of the challenge post. This way, we can find all the poetry in one place.
CINQUAIN & the variations on Cinquain-Wikipedia
This site even has a link so you can install the extension on Google Chrome.
For Synonyms and Antonyms. When your word has too many syllables, find one that works.
Find out how many syllables each word has. I use this site to compose my poems. Click on the “Workshop” tab, then cut and paste your poetry into the box. Click the Count Syllables button on the button. This site does the hard work for you.
I will publish the Tuesday prompt post at 12: 03 A.M. Mountain Standard Time (Phoenix, AZ Time). That should give everyone time to see the prompt from around the world. I publish the RECAP on Monday. It will contain the Poet of the Week and any Honorable Mention poetry.
This is the last poetry challenge for 2019. Thanks for making this challenge so much fun. You are the best!
I want everyone to spend time with friends and family over the holidays. I’ll post a recap next week on Monday, December 23rd. Before the new year, I’ll share the new schedule for next year also.
Since most of you were more interested in me commenting on the poetry on your blog, I will not do a recap in 2020. Remember, I like the fluidity of this challenge. If something isn’t working we can change it. The challenge email is tankatuesdaypoetry@gmail.com.
Don’t forget – H. R. R. Gorman has been compiling the Poets of the Week and honorable mention poetry into a PDF which should be ready for distribution by the middle of January 2020. Everyone will want to grab their FREE copy! Make sure and thank him for all his hard work!
We’ll resume the new challenge on January 7, 2020.
As time allows, I will visit your blog, comment, and TWEET your POETRY. I have also been sharing some of your poetry on my Facebook page.
Click HERE to find Colleen M. Chesebro’s Facebook page. Please share the challenge poetry on your social media. Thanks.
If you add these hashtags to your post TITLE on your blog (depending on which poetry form you use) your poetry may be viewed more often:
#Haiku, #Senryu, #Haiga, #Tanka, #micropoetry, #poetry, #5lines, #Haibun, #Prose, #CinquainPoetry, #Etheree, #Nonet, #Shadorma #PhotoPromptPoetry
You may copy the badge I have created to go with the Weekly Poetry Challenge Post and place it in your post. It’s not mandatory:

In your care
Shielded with love
From the fires of hell
You keep me safe from sin
My beloved guardian
However intense the danger
Your wings keep me safe from the world’s harm
You care for me and I bathe in your calm.

Don’t use the verse block. It’s definitely not working. I just used the syllable blocks on the recap. ❤

Yes I have given up on the verse it’s a nightmare at the moment.

Oh, this is very nice, Sally. Interestingly, H. R. R. Gorman said the substance is called aerogel! I thought it was ice. 😀

This was very interesting! Because I knew what was going on in the photo (it’s not photoshopped! It’s an aerogel!), I decided to look deeper into my self and look for feelings. An impressive photo for a poetry challenge.

Oh, that is really cool! I had to look it up. I saw the aerogel as ice and could image all sorts of “done of me wrong” love poetry with roses, fire, and ice. LOL! 😀
