“My Little Bit of Heaven,” A #Tanka

Tanka tuesday

I’ve had some strange episodes with WordPress of late – disappearing draft posts and themes that have more glitches than a change in voltage in an electric circuit! Whatever ails this platform, I hope it corrects itself soon.

Finally, I’ve recreated my creative endeavor for my weekly poetry challenge. I’ve used delight for “play,” and belief for “guess.”

My winter’s delight –
short days and long stary nights,
abed with a book.
Bewitched by my belief in
a fiction lover’s heaven.

An avid reader, Colleen M. Chesebro rekindled her love of writing poetry after years spent working in the accounting industry. These days, she loves crafting syllabic poetry, flash fiction, and creative fiction and nonfiction. In addition to poetry books, Chesebro’s publishing career includes participation in various anthologies featuring short stories, flash fiction, and poetry. She’s an avid supporter of her writing community on Word Craft Poetry.com by organizing and sponsoring a weekly syllabic poetry challenge, called #TankaTuesday, where participants experiment with traditional and current forms of Japanese and American syllabic poetry. Chesebro is an assistant editor of The Congress of the Rough Writers Flash Fiction Anthology & Gitty Up Press, a micro-press founded by Charli Mills and Carrot Ranch. In January 2022, Colleen founded Unicorn Cats Publishing Services to assist poets and authors in creating eBooks and print books for publication. In addition, she creates affordable book covers for Kindle and print books. Chesebro lives in the house of her dreams in mid-Michigan surrounded by the Great Lakes with her husband and two (unicorn) cats, Chloe & Sophie.

  1. Wonderful picture, make me want to curl up with a book.
    “A fiction lover’s heaven”… Nice 🙂
I’ve had some WordPress annoyances lately too. When I log in from Google Chrome WordPress insists that I’m not a user. The WordPress people told me to use a different search engine. Which works, but … annoying 😦

    1. Oh, geez! It is crazy. I switched from windows to Mac and my experience improved 99%. Now, if WP would get their platform fixed it would help. There are huge improvements coming so I hate to fuss after them. Losing draft posts really was frustrating. Oh well. What do you do? ❤️

      1. Losing a draft, way frustrating! The you’re not a user thing is the first real issue I’ve had with WordPress so I’ll wait and see what the improvements bring. In the meantime, they suggested adding their app to my tablet and that works. Don’t know why I never did it before 🙂

        1. Huh… the app on my Iphone doesn’t work half the time. I have to uninstall and reinstall. Very frustrating. 😀
