Hello and welcome to my contribution to my weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge. This week we had to find synonyms for “experience and new.” I decided to create a Tanka poem using the words neoteric for new, and technique for experience.
Here are the instructions for writing a Tanka Poem: TANKA IN ENGLISH 5/7/5/7/7 syllable structure. Your Tanka will consist of five lines written in the first-person point of view. This is important because the poem should be written from the perspective of the poet.
I’ve been working on my second novel the last few months or so. Unlike my first book, where the words poured out me, this second volume has so many different opportunities and paths to take in the writing process. I have to rein in my creativity. This got me to thinking about my characters and how they sometimes seem to take charge of where “they” want the story to go!
This Tanka poem fits my dilemma perfectly!

Neoteric thoughts –
another path to follow,
where do my words lead?
Writing requires technique or
your characters take over.

Perfect! I love your words choice AND the inspiration your tanka provides, for I, too, am in the middle of completing some writing. You are so talented.
