“Snowflakes,” #CinquainPoetry #ABRSC #SynonymsOnly

Hello and welcome to my contribution to my weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge. This week we had to find synonyms for “cover and precipitation.” I decided to create a cinquain using the words, snowflakes, and shield.

Here are the rules for writing 5 line Cinquain Poetry:

“Snowflakes”

Snowflakes –

sparkling diamonds

snowing, blowing, freezing

frosty iciness chilling shield

crystals

Colleen’s poetry has appeared in various anthologies and journals including “Hedgerow-a journal of small poems,” and “Poetry Treasures1 & 2” a collection of poetry from the poet/author guests of Robbie Cheadle on the “Treasuring Poetry” blog series on “Writing to be Read." Colleen published “Word Craft: Prose & Poetry, The Art of Crafting Syllabic Poetry,” which illustrates how to write various syllabic poetry forms used in her Tanka Tuesday challenges; and a collection of poetry, flash fiction, and short stories called, “Fairies, Myths & Magic: A Summer Celebration,” dedicated to the Summer Solstice. She contributed a short story called “The Changeling,” in the “Ghostly Rites Anthology 2020,” published by Plaisted Publishing House. Most poetic inspirations take root when I am walking with my four year old Chihuahua, Lola. Much of my other writing comes from my love of History, Mythology, from the vast fictional works of others and creations - Sci fi, romance, most genres.

I am a wife and a mum and have just finished University as a Registered Nurse, after having worked as an Associate Practitioner in the NHS. I am also a poet and the author of my debut book, 'Rhymes of the Times.' I love to laugh, and I love rhyming words too, so I joined the two together, and my book was born. I am currently working on another book in the series also. I am a prolific blogger and enjoy writing funny stories, anecdotes, and anything really that takes my fancy.

I'm in the middle of writing my 3rd novel "Dracul" (Fantasy for YA/Adult). Obviously I love reading and writing, but I also love traveling, animals, nature, hiking, kayaking, watching basketball, good movies, UFC, cooking, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
