RonovanWrites #Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt #Challenge #79 Crystal & Hope

Welcome to this week’s Haiku sponsored by Ron, from Ronovan Writes. The challenge words this week are “crystal and hope.”

I am really excited to share that on Saturday, I will meet my first blogging buddy in person! Wendy Darling and I are both living in Colorado only 100 miles apart! Isn’t that amazing? It just seems fitting that I would dedicate this haiku to our first meeting!

Wendy is an author, illustrator, and a narrator! Her debut novel was published in 2014 and is called Silver Lightning. (Click the link to see her book on Amazon).

Here is a bit about Wendy:

Wendy Anne Darling was born in England, spent her high school years in South Africa, and moved the U.S. in 1989. She describes her accent as ‘mid-Atlantic’; her friends in the U.S. think she sounds British and her family in England say she’s totally American now! Wendy has two gorgeous daughters and two phenomenal grand-kids and lives near Boulder, Colorado with a view of the Rocky Mountains that inspires her every day.

Wendy’s love affair with books started early; her grandmother would bring her piles of slightly imperfect books, courtesy of her job with the Oxford University Press, and her love of reading led her to write her own stories and poetry from a very young age. She has read the entire The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit aloud twice; once to her sisters and again for her daughters and does a mean Gollum!

Wendy is a writer, a narrator of Amazon Audible audio books, and an artist. She has degrees in Visual Communications and Paralegal Studies, studied Theater for a while at CU-Boulder and has acted in several plays, including ‘A Taste of Shakespeare.’ When she’s not reading, writing or drawing, she’s watching anything Sci-Fi and is a huge fan of Doctor Who. Silver Lightning is her debut into publishing, and the cover is her own artwork.

I am calling this haiku, “First Meeting.” Here is how I used the two words: Crystal = gem, and Hope = expectation.

An expectation –

meeting a friend the first time,

I know she’s a gem!

Thanks for stopping by! Wendy and I will take pictures and share our visit with you all next week!
